Environmental Improvements
Over the last 29 years Rodgers Contracts have carried out numerous schemes ranging from smaller private works to publicly funded contracts exceeding £1m in value. Environmental Improvements generally involve the regeneration of an existing environment to improve its amenity value utilising paving, fencing, lighting, landscaping and innovative features such as water features.
The following are a few examples of more recent schemes carried out:
Lurgan Park Restoration
This 12 month prestigious £1M contract was carried out for Craigavon Borough Council under the contract administrator Soltys Brewster.
The works were a mixture of refurbishment and new construction and involved the restoration of an existing historical fountain by Heritage Engineering of Glasgow, refurbishment of existing boundary walling and refurbishment of existing historical railings.
The new works included the provision and laying of resin bound gravel installed by Surface Solutions, the installation of new street furniture supplied by Environmental Street Furniture and the construction of new environmentally friendly car parking spaces.
Redevelopment of The Diamond, Coleraine
Among some of the more prestigious town centre improvement schemes carried out within the last few years has been the Redevelopment of The Diamond, Coleraine. This contract, due to the nature of the site, was carried out in five phases over eighteen months for Coleraine Town Partnership under the contract administrator DMP Consulting.
The work involved within this scheme scheme included paving with natural granite slabs and pre-cast paving units (Marshall's 'La Linia') , Construction of Bradstone 'Ashlar' block seats and planters including natural granite seating and copings, installation of street furniture (s/steel seat backs, bollards, utility bollards, bins etc), repositioning & refurbishment of monument, tree removal and planting of street trees. The scheme also involved the removal and rebuilding of an historic stone fountain within The Diamond.
Following the completion of the scheme Coleraine was the regional winner of the The Association of Town Centre Managers Awards for creating a Quality Environment.
Downpatrick Gateway
Prior to the commissioning of the sculpture of St Patrick there was no definitive landmark indicating the entrance to Downpatrick, which Down District Council sought to resolve with the erection of a modern sculpture complemented by traditional stonework.
Scott Wilson were commissioned by Down District Council to design and construct the scheme within the council brief and duly tendered the works for construction. The works consisted of the following works items.
- Excavation and foundations for wall and plinth.
- Construction of traditional granite walling.
- Fabrication and installation of the 6m high sculpture of St Patrick
- Reinstatements and landscaping
- Lighting works to wall and sculpture.

Sub-contractors involved within the scheme were MACSPEC, Thomas Rooney & Sons ,Braham Electrical and Cameron Landscapes.
Paving works were carried out by Surface Solutions, a division of Rodgers Contracts.
