Playground Installation

In order to provide a more vibrant and challenging environment for children clients have changed existing playgrounds into more challenging environments. As such playgrounds have tended to digress from the typical swings and roundabouts variety to the more adventurous towers and slides variety to encourage their usage.

For over 15 years Rodgers Contracts have been constructing playgrounds for clients including Belfast City Council, have installed equipment from most of the major playground equipment suppliers and have been involved in a number of major playground schemes of which several have been listed below:

Lurgan Park Playground

Lurgan Park Playground

As part of the Lurgan Park restoration project, a new state of the art playground was erected. Originally there was a paddling pool on the site which had to be taken away and filled up with stone. The pipe work that supplied the water to this pool was used to feed the new water features and play equipment. We installed new drainage to drain the water away and keep the surface safe.

The project also included swings, zip lines and climbing frames for children of various ages. In the summer the Park Manager would turn on the water equipment for everyone to enjoy.

Magherafelt Nursery Playground

Magherafelt Nursery Playground

Magherafelt Nursery School was designed and installed for the use of under 6 year olds. The equipment has no sharp edges, fall heights are kept to a minimum and enjoyment is targeted to the specific age group.

Construction of the equipment was restricted due to walls en route to the play area; removal of sub-soil had to be overcome by using mini-dumpers and digger. This project lasted 3 weeks and provided use of play sand for the children. Health and Safety was paramount as the school was opened during the works. All equipment is installed professionally to the guide lines and an independent inspection report is provided by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (R.O.S.P.A.)

Parkview Playground

Parkview Playground

In partnership with Environmental Street Furniture E.S.F. (who supply the equipment) we constructed this castle, which is designed for use of disabled children for Parkview Special School. The project lasted 3 weeks and is the only one of its kind in N. Ireland.

Land drainage had to be installed due to bad ground conditions. Foundations were poured under each section 250mm deep with reinforced bar to support the weight.

As it is a large piece, we had to use a digger to help sustain the weight while fixing each section. Once the equipment was aligned, the castle was then fixed to the concrete foundations for total support. The "Wet Pour" safety surface was then laid to complete the project, ensuring use for all ages and abilities.
