This scheme consisted of laying 3850m of 125mm HPPE sewage pumping, 5 air valve chambers and 3 wash-out chambers along the main road from Mayobridge to Newry as part of a rationalisation of sewage treatment works for Water Service. Main Contractors BSG Civil Engineering and Seamic International.
Originally this scheme was scheduled to be directionally drilled in order to reduce the contract period and minimise traffic disruption from that which would normally be encountered by traditional open-cut method, however due to rock and large boulders directional drilling was not achievable.
Due to the rural nature of the road and after identifying all service crossings and previous experience Rodgers Contracts proposed the use of a trencher / rock wheel to excavate the trench trough the deep road base and rock followed by normal pipe installation. All parties accepted the proposals and work commenced in early October 2006 and was completed with all associated chambers and first time permanent asphalt reinstatement in six weeks.

As part of an overall framework package of watermain rehabilitation in Northern Ireland Rodgers Contracts have been carrying out watermain installation in Northern Division throughout 2006 for Lagan / Holleran JV (main contractor to DRD Water Service in Northern Division).
Currently to date this package has involved the laying of approximately 24 kilometres of polyethylene pipework ranging in diameter from 63mm to 400mm. The majority of this pipework was carried out by PE3 Pipeline Services.
Due to different factors the works have been carried out mainly by pipe bursting (or "pipe splitting" or "pipe eating") and traditional open cut with the majority of work being carried out by pipebursting utilising existing pipework.

The North Down Ards (NDA) WwTW is a new Wastewater Treatment Works which is part of £122M package of work to upgrade and rationalise existing treatment facilities and improve effluent quality to EU regulations at a number of sites across Northern Ireland for Water Service. The complete package of work is being undertaken by a Joint Venture between Thames Water Services and Laing O'Rourke - Glen Water.
Rodgers Contracts were appointed in September 2006 by Glen Water to construct the sewage transfer mains from the proposed pumping stations at Millisle and Donaghadee to the new NDA treatment works currently under construction on the High Bangor Road adjacent to the disused carpet factory.
The work comprises of laying 2550m of 225mm HPPE pumping main laid along the narrow road from Millisle to Donaghadee with the use of traffic lights, 350m of 600mm concrete gravity sewer across the Commons at Donaghadee and 3000m of 400mm HPPE pumping main from a new pumping station at Donaghadee Marina through the town with the use of traffic lights and road closures.
The work commenced on-site in October 2006 and is scheduled to be complete by May 2007.
